Bringing sounds of Africa to you

 HISTORY

In the early to late 80s, the entire music and entertainment industry in Sierra Leone was dominated by groups like Davalgees, Geneneers, Falcons, Whispers and Solid Gold. The founding members of Sierra Gold Records along with their first artists were all members of Solid Gold and Davalgees in Sierra Leone. The Solid Gold Dancers named after the dancing group in the United States were the teenage idols of the day in Sierra Leone admired by thousands of fans.

With the migration of Sierra Leoneans in the 90s to the US and England all of the Solid Gold members departed the shores of Sierra Leone in pursuit of their dreams. Members of the Solid Gold of Sierra Leone now adults in their own right and after securing a future for themselves decided to pursue their passion through the establishment of Sierra Gold Records. Sierra representing their country of origin Sierra Leone, Gold representing the quality and precious stones found in the country and Records representing our passion for music.

The first music artists signed by Sierra Gold Records, Fulani, were the only members of the Solid Gold of Sierra Leone to continue with music as a career. Ahmad and Mohamed now carry on by pursuing the dream of making great music for their fans.

Sierra Gold Records is committed to bringing the diverse sounds of Africa to you. From traditional African music to African Hip Hop we will bring you the best that Africa has to offer in music. Welcome to the sounds and future of African inspired music.

Fatoma Kallon COO

In the early 80’s when the original members of the Sierra Leone Solid Gold Dancers were migrating to the western world and moving on to bigger things, some of the members who were still in Sierra Leone wanted to continue with the tradition of Solid Gold Dancers. They formed the Mini Solid Gold Dancers which I Fatoma Kallon was a member of until I migrated to the United States in 1986.

"After my migration to the United States, my focus changed to one of my other passion, engineering. I have focused on that since then until the Fulani (former members of the Mini Solid Gold Dancers) approach me to work with them as they launched their third album. Hence the beginning of my other passion, which is music.

I’m the COO of Sierra Gold Records. My focus will be on the operations of the business as a whole and artist management. The drive and desire to see people succeed in their passion drive me to do the best for them and help them achieve their goal..".
